Practical Info

Event Overview & Format

Understanding the Country Ranking System

The Country Ranking is a team competition that includes runners of all levels, both elite and amateur.

It sums the net finishing times of the top 25 runners from each country across each race and gender category. Only countries with at least 25 official finishers across all races are included in the ranking.

Whichever country has the lowest total time wins.

In the event of a tie, the nod goes to the country whose last scoring runner finishes closest to the first-place runner.

Format of the European Running Championships

The European Running Championships (ERCH) is a dynamic, all-inclusive running event that blends elite-level competition with mass participation across three distances: the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K.

  • Individuals, teams and national champions will be crowned in each distance.
  • Every registered runner—elite or amateur—automatically contributes to their country’s performance through the official Country Ranking.
